Our Sustainability Story
In a world where the word “sustainability” is used more and more frequently, at Casa Timiș Wellness & Spa Resort we choose to live it, not just say it. For us, sustainability is not only a moral responsibility, but a committed approach, applied in every corner of the resort. From how we generate our energy, to how we cultivate our vineyards, cook, or build, every decision is thoughtfully made, with care for the environment, the community, and the future.
We started in 2018 from a wild, untouched piece of land, full of potential. We chose not to conquer it, but to understand it and work with it. The result? A sustainable resort that breathes through every leaf, lake, drop of wine, and guest’s smile. We are proud that, in 2024, our efforts were recognized through the Green Key certification, an international distinction validating green practices in the hospitality industry and beyond.
Earth Day is every day at Casa Timiș
For us, Earth Day (April 22) is not just a date on the calendar, but a symbol of the values we deeply believe in. Respect for nature can be felt in every gesture: in the 11-hectare orchard we planted with care, in the birch-lined paths, and in the clean air filtered by hundreds of trees.
The fruits we harvest – from peaches and nectarines to sour cherries, almonds, and walnuts – not only enrich the flavor of our dishes, but also remind us of the direct connection between the earth and the plate. This circular approach, where ingredients come straight from our gardens, allows us to offer guests seasonal, authentic, and healthy menus.
The diversity of vegetation is not just an aesthetic feature. The trees we’ve planted – over 1800 birches, along with oaks, firs, linden trees, and willows – create a stable ecosystem that helps regulate temperature, filter the air, and protect the soil. For guests, all these efforts translate into a living, regenerative atmosphere – a space where nature welcomes and nurtures you.
Green technology and energy efficiency: the future starts now
Our Sustainability Story
Sustainability means more than nature – it also means technology used smartly. That’s why at Casa Timiș, we chose to invest in solutions that reduce resource consumption without compromising guest comfort. Today, we use 288 photovoltaic panels, transforming sunlight into clean energy, while our solar panel systems provide hot water in rooms and shared areas.
All lighting is done using LED bulbs, much more efficient and durable than traditional ones. Additionally, we’ve installed motion and light sensors to reduce unnecessary consumption and optimize the resort’s operation according to real needs.
These initiatives contribute not only to a reduced carbon footprint, but also to a model of sustainable development we hope to inspire throughout the hospitality industry. To be a sustainable resort means blending luxury and quality with responsibility – and at Casa Timiș, this balance becomes a reality every single day.
Agriculture – the roots of our sustainability
Casa Timiș stands, quite literally, on fertile ground. Agriculture is a fundamental part of our identity. We have over 85 hectares of vineyards, including some with ancestral vines over 50 years old, cared for with deep respect and expertise.
The deep root systems of the vines reduce the need for irrigation, and our soil and resource management practices make this a truly eco-friendly activity. We cultivate noble grape varieties – Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Fetească Albă, as well as Merlot, Pinot Noir, and Cabernet Sauvignon – that result in elegant wines used not only for tastings, but also as ingredients in desserts, sauces, jellies, or signature cocktails.
We also grow 9 hectares of table grapes, as well as areas for aromatic herbs, vegetables, and edible flowers. Vine leaves are used in dishes inspired by local tradition, and organic waste is composted and reintegrated into the natural cycle. This is meaningful agriculture – agriculture that feeds not just the body, but the soul.
3 aquatic ecosystems – tranquility flowing through Casa Timiș
Nature isn’t complete without water – and at Casa Timiș, we understand its soothing, regenerative power. That’s why we created three artificial lakes – true aquatic ecosystems that serve multiple roles: collecting and recirculating water, creating a pleasant microclimate, and providing shelter for plants and animals.
Populated with Koi carp, beautified with water lilies, and surrounded by lush vegetation, the lakes offer a unique sensory experience. Whether you’re walking around them in the morning or attending an outdoor yoga class, being near water helps you reconnect with yourself and nature. This is our way of creating a complete ecosystem, where guests don’t just observe nature – they live in it, with it.
The lakes support biodiversity, help maintain soil moisture, and provide a favorable environment for birds, amphibians, and beneficial insects. They are part of the natural architecture of the place, harmoniously completing the landscape and supporting the connection with nature we strive to offer every guest.
Casa Timiș – more than a resort, a green promise
At the end of a day spent here, every visitor leaves with more than just a beautiful memory. They leave with a sense of belonging, peace, and balance. This is lived sustainability: not just care for resources, but care for people.
